Duplicate Covers, Good Deeds

A duplicate cover image...


..noted while looking at the worthy Authors for Japan site, which is auctioning off literary things to raise money for the victims of the terrible multiple disasters currently unfolding in Japan.

Yes, they both work rather well, though I think I prefer the Craig Nova cover.

I knew I could count on you. I came across this duplicate cover just today and thought to myself, where can I post this?
I've known trade publishers to do this sort of thing, and I don't know why I'm surprised to see it in an academic press (they probably do it more), but try these:

Ah, nicely spotted! I'll post these (with credit to you) today! I suspect you might be right about academic presses--they probably have smaller design budgets and so a bigger reliance on stock images that might already be in use elsewhere.
