..but by all that is good and pure they ought to (sadly, I think they're just promo posters). They're the work of designer Amy Fleisher, as part of the 75th anniversary of Penguin.

I love these! They are so original and cute. Yes, they should exist as covers. Maybe Penguin will consider it. I'd love to have copies of these.
These are very clever, especially that last one.
I would love to see the cover for the kama sutra done in similar style (but that might just be me and my kinky penguin fetish, and it wouldn't fit in with the whole early horror/sci fi theme (and somehow sci fi seems totaly the wrong way to describe them)).
the invisible man is hilarious!! although, when seen with the other three. excellent!
Where, oh where can I get these posters?
OMG I went to the artist's website and they have a USB drive shaped like the Frankenstein pengin-- and they are available as slightly- deraged-but-I-desperately-want-them plush toys.
Wow! I might blog about this too. I simply love these.
There don't seem to be any ordering details that I can find, but I want these too! And the toys! And the USB!
A Kama Sutra cover would be excellent. Actually, now that someone has actually had the great idea behind these, it's easy to think up more: Penguin could use them on the front of cheap reprints like the Popular Penguins they sell in Australia and Canada.
I love those, especially Invisible Man :) very clever!!
No Invisible Man plush toy? This is bullshit.
Actually, Craig, I can sell you one if you like. Just send $50.
Those are great. Clever, whimsical and well designed.
Oh, this is greatness. I wish they were real, at least as posters to go around bookstores.
Awesome! So clever.
Its so cute! Made me laugh.
These are hilarious!! I'd buy these books if they really had these covers!
These are great, yes. I also like it when the little penguin logo does something strange - I believe my copy of Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber had the little penguin as a vampire.
Colleen, if you look at http://causticcovercritic.blogspot.com/2008/04/roxanna-bikadoroff-angela-carter.html you can see the other Angela Carter Penguin logos--clowns, executioners, marionettes... they're great.
These are, to say the least, awesome.
This has made my day (which, frankly, needed making). And I hadn't seen those Carters.
Much goodness on your blog lately.
Bibilio & Robert: Thanks!
Hilarious !
