This is just a quick post about a rare occurence: a particular cover image following a book from publisher to publisher.
When Picador published Robert Drewe's excellent short story collection The Bodysurfers in 1983, they used Charles Meere's 1940 painting 'Australian Beach Pattern' for the cover.
When Penguin republish it later this year as a Penguin Modern Classic, they'll be using the same (very appropriate, and somewhat Lempicka-ish) image.
In between, Penguin used this rather less inspired cover.
The painting is definitely the image of choice.
