Big Head

Here's a beautiful set of covers for the work of Oliver Sacks, from Vintage US. The designs are by Cardon Webb. Click for enbiggening.

  1. I like that the placement of Sacks' name changed when appropriate, but the size remained consistent... quite neat.

  2. This is cruel. My OCD would make me buy them all that once for completion's sake.

  3. This is so cool! I have seen a couple of these books but had no idea the cover designs all went together to make a bigger picture! I hope some creative bookstore has figured out a way to display them so customers can see this.

  4. Biblibio: good point--consistency, but not so rigid that it wrecks each cover's own ideal design.

They definitely cry out to be displayed like this. And I want all 6 too!

  5. I actually prefer something like this, with the picture forming on the spines, since you can actually see it when they’re lined up on a bookshelf:

  6. Yes, that can work really well: see the Casanova spines here (http://causticcovercritic.blogspot.com/2007/12/casanovas-spines.html).

  7. I absolutely adore these. I have the urge to buy them, then frame and position them on my wall.
