Arbitrary Rules for Book Covers: #1 in an irregular series

Most memoirs and autobiographies have tasteful, nicely lit professional and/or studio portraits of their authors on the covers, usually looking thoughtful or intelligent. The new rule is that all such books should instead have embarrassing but appropriate photos from the author's childhood, such as this for a man who grew up to become a book reviewer...

..or this cover for the childhood memories of a white girl whose white father was convinced he was black, and insisted that his daughter should behave like a character from Superfly.

  2. When they logged that hair they declared it an enviromental disaster. Half the worlds old growth forest disapeared in one visit to the barber (I was gonna write hairdresser but somehow barber seems more appropiate).

And word verification is frapop, which is what I am going to call any white person sporting a fro from now on.

  3. My high school yearbook from 1975 (yes, I'm old) has plenty of 'fros that big and bigger--and not just on the heads of black kids. Back then, any kid with curly hair wanted to have a righteous 'fro. (Remember Art Garfunkel's hair circa 1970? I bet he wishes he still had it.)
