They had better face the fact that their in-house design isn't terribly good. Picador UK had a similar problem but then started farming more design out to decent independent designers, and the transformation has been impressive.John Selfhttp://theasylum.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413291183164140297.post-79063032814506511682011-09-05T15:57:13.476-07:002011-09-05T15:57:13.476-07:00Ha! Except that these mostly look cold and uninviting, and only the last one looks like a person with a story, let alone one worth reading.Olaf Nelsonhttp://www.chinooktype.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413291183164140297.post-59028967528737187992011-08-28T00:26:21.157-07:002011-08-28T00:26:21.157-07:00None of them are author photos... though maybe tha...None of them are author photos... though maybe that would have been better.JRSMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04430775461763521797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413291183164140297.post-25345995207772346342011-08-27T19:47:30.658-07:002011-08-27T19:47:30.658-07:00The type going across the nose looks like a bandai...The type going across the nose looks like a bandaid. Also, having those eyes staring directly into yours is confronting. These covers would have looked much better without the photo, just a blank background (though they still would be ugly), the purpose of the staring faces escapes me. Are some of them photos of the authors?Matthew Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06954050440829792514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413291183164140297.post-1416996841271042042011-08-25T23:45:09.252-07:002011-08-25T23:45:09.252-07:00Oscar: I saw them in a row and they are a bit conf...Oscar: I saw them in a row and they are a bit confronting.

Craig: Yes!
